For me I have a large variety of trees that I love. One of them is the ficus carica.(hence my name) I am also big fans of chinese elms, boxwood, ficus, and umbrella trees. I love them because every tree I listed can be kept indoors, and provide interesting foliage.

Tough one.
I have a strong affinity for american hornbeam Carpinus caroliniana and red cedar Juniperus virginiana, because they're native to my area. My latest crush is on hawthorn Crataegus spp. for similar reasons.

I love seeing my local trees in bonsai form, and they're already adapted to the seasonal changes for my area, that way I don't have to baby them much during cold snaps & hot spells.

I've always loved acer palmatum and acer buergerianum, even before I knew about bonsai (We have a palmatum in our front garden), so they're pprobably my favourites. I've also recently started to love punica granatum.

I like the idea of native species too.
I'd like to get a native species of conifer some day.
it could be decorated as Christmas tree :-)

Without question Larch are my favourite, they are conifers but deciduous. They are easy to grow, forgiving, and easy to style and fast growing.

Elms, they're tough as nails and grow fast.

Elegant larches, massive pines, junipers with beautiful deadwood, azaleas, apples and prunes for their flowers... I can't choose :)
