Can you do a picture and tell us what species it is? Have you been watering correctly?
Geoff.

It is looking very poorly. I can't tell what is wrong, but you could try pruning the dead branches off, if they are dead, and I would take it out of the pot and check the roots. If they are rotten then it beyond rescue. Try not to disturb the roots if you can, just have a look.
If the roots are white and firm then they are ok, but I would not re pot unless the soil is not draining well.
Let us know,
Geoff.

to me it looks as if it is overwatered.
when the leaves fell of, did you give it more water than usual?

No, I don't think I did that, intact it's very dry n hot where we live, the soil gets very dry if I don't water it every day.
is there any other problem you anticipate?
the leaves are coming out very slowly as though it is struggling very hard.
should I repot it?
its hot summer here.

It has had enough stress re potting would make it worse. Why would you re pot anyway? I don't know the species, but it sounds to me as if it may have got dry at some point, not too much water. Could he heat be causing a problem? Have you got a bit of shade you can put it in the heat of the day?
