As some can probably tell I am a huge fan of fig trees. (ficus carica to be exact) And since spring is here, I decided its time to start propagating my fig tree by air layering. I will give updates almost every month or when something happens, or if I need help. :)

The only problem I think I would have is keeping the leaf size small. Any advice on that? (if pruning is the answer I called it!)

Good to see you started.

Question though.. Why did you not take a thick branch? This will take a decade to get to a more established look and feel.

Getting smaller leaves.. Keep on the dry side, prune a lot, and make sure you get very fine ramification.

I decided that since I am a kid I would grow with one of my favorite trees. Besides the tree had very little thick branches anyway. So gradually I will achieve the thick trunk I want.

I don't believe that there is crap in a ficus carica. This is a project I have been thinking about, and I have finally decided to execute the plan. I don't care if it takes me over 20 years to achieve what I want. As long as the result is what I imagined.

i have always loved this one, i39.servimg.com/u/f39/15/58/14/49/p1210325.jpg, by user Cram on another forum.

It is possible, but requires a serious trunk to be convincing.
