Cotoneaster Bonsai

Position: Although depending on the exact species, most cotoneasters prefer full sun. Protect the tree during the winter once night temperatures drop below -5 Celsius (or 23F).

Watering: Slightly moist, water only when necessary but when watering do it properly.

Feeding: Fertilize the tree every two weeks with high nitrogen in spring, balanced feed in summer and low nitrogen in autumn.

Pruning: As Cotoneasters like to sucker, suckers must be vigilantly removed to promote trunk growth.

Repotting: Yearly, in early spring. Remove up to 30% of the roots and never bare root it during repotting.

Propagation: Take cuttings in mid-summer.
