Hello!

I’ve had this bonsai for only a couple of weeks, which was my second ficus bonsai, but I gave my original one to a friend. I’ve been doing a bit of work on it, and yesterday I added some moss to the base of the tree.

Here are some photos of the tree.

Cute tree, thanks for charing. That is a very odd way of moss application. Normally we dont want moss growing on the trunk as it might rot the bark.

I should mention that it isn’t real moss, instead preserved so that it won’t spread.

Even more so, "that is a very odd way of moss application. Normally we dont want moss growing on the trunk as it might rot the bark." Real or not, looks like that'll keep the trunk damp/wet, which may indeed rot the bark. And well, fake moss is fake, and makes everything else look fake, too. It's very easy to grow real moss, and it looks much better.
