I'd like to have some help on how to style this tree. I bought this tree hoping to get a Hokidachi style bonsai. I've repoted the tree since I brought it home. Now I don't know what else to do.

Hi there... Well I don´t think the broom (Hokidachi) style will be easy to achieve for this species. I´d say that maybe you should try a Literati style (Bunjingi) and I say this because of the trunk width and because it has a limited amount of branches to work with. Also, you could try a Slanting style (Shakkan) since it seems, by your second photo, that the tree possess a light inclination of the trunk. Oh, and if you are in the northern hemisphere I strongly recomend that you take this tree outdoors. You´ll see, this particular species tolerates heat very well and demands lots of light.

Basically it is an informal up right. If it ain't broke there is no need to fix it. It will not make a broom and Literati is not the sort of style that Serrisa lends nto. Stick to what it is.
