Hi there... Well I don´t think the broom (Hokidachi) style will be easy to achieve for this species. I´d say that maybe you should try a Literati style (Bunjingi) and I say this because of the trunk width and because it has a limited amount of branches to work with. Also, you could try a Slanting style (Shakkan) since it seems, by your second photo, that the tree possess a light inclination of the trunk. Oh, and if you are in the northern hemisphere I strongly recomend that you take this tree outdoors. You´ll see, this particular species tolerates heat very well and demands lots of light.
