Hi there Kap,
I'm pretty sure that the tree you have is a ficus. One question though... Why is the trunk of the tree severed?

Ficus 'Ginseng', kuromatsubonsai.com/tropical-bonsai/ginseng-ficus-bonsai/

Quoting:
"Ginseng Ficus is not considered by enthusiasts to be a true bonsai, even though it is sold as one to the uninitiated"

Nice article you just find Auk.

My first tree was also a ficus Ginseng that suffered the same fate described in the text. It was given to me as a present from someone that, at that time, didn´t know much about the bonsai art. However, once I got it I kept taking good care of it despite I knew I couldn´t consider it a real bonsai. I´ve become truly fond of it and as a result it´s grown stronger.

Now, this article poses several ideas that I will take into consideration, specially the one regarding rocks inserted in the concave part of the trunk... That´s an interesting option to make it, perhaps, a more realistic bonsai. Thanks Auk

Alain
