I received this bonsai from my daughter for Mother's day and it was absolutely beautiful. Now it seems to be dying and I am not sure how to care for it. Please help before it is to late.

First what country are you in? If as I suspect you have it the house then that is the problem. I put mine out as soon as the risk of frost is gone and they will stay there until the temp starts to drop to about 10c then they are taken in.

I live in California, USA. And yes it is inside. We are running about 100-105°F, I figured it was to hot for it to be outside.

Bouganvillea are a tropical species, they can take any temperature. You will not keep it well inside. In your climate it would be outside 365 days a year.

Ok, I moved it outside on our front porch. I made sure the soil was moist and that the water tray underneath had plenty of water for evaporation. Should I do anything else or special, I have never had something like this and find it very interesting.

Fertiliser every two weeks with a low nitrogen fertiliser otherwise enjoy it. Does it have any flower bracts yet?

When I first got it, it was covered in flowers. This lasted for about 2 weeks then slowly started dropping the flowers and then the leaves started. I have made sure to keep it watered but not soaking wet since it seems to be drying out and wilting.

Sounds as if it not getting enough water. The bracts should last for months, mine do. Keeping it inside was probably the main cause of them dropping. If it gets dry it will drop leaves so you do need to be careful and water two or three times a day if necessary.
