Hello everyone

I'd like to know if someone could tell me what species of tree I have here. I was told by the guy that it was a "Pino dorado" which translates to Golden Pine in English.

My dream is to a a very thick trunk hokidachi style bonsai. Can I achieve it with this one?
Also, the guy said this bonsai didn't need any pruning or wiring, but I'm not very sure about that. Is it true?

This plant is a young plant probably about 3 or 4 years old. It looks like a Juniper, possibly a spruce, I am not too sure. It is in need of some serious pruning and would benefit from years in the ground to get some size to the trunk, unless you want a tiny tree. At the moment it looks like what it is , a bush.
To achieve what you are thinking about will take some years.
I hope you are not keeping this iside.

Not a bonsai but a young and not styled dwarf tree.

Not fit for Hokidachi style, and as it is a slow growing dwarf, you will never get that thick trunk.

Yes, could be a Cryptomeria, not the easiest species especially if the winters are cold. Won't kill bit will brown the needles

i could be wrong but i think it is a juniper, preferably a needle juniper. as i say i could be wrong.

It's a Cryptomeria

to me it looks like a juniper as there is no red tinge on the edge of the new leaves.

I possibly would have said Juniper, but not needle.
