We went to Chi Lin Nunnery in Hong Kong and saw a huge number of bougainvillea. Most of them were normal bonsai size but there were a couple of cascade style that were huge. I have a picture somewhere of my wife and daughter in law standing under one. This was around New Year and they were all solid pink.

Have I ever told you about me being envious of your climate. Sometimes (Until I walk with you in botanical gardens at 30 degrees and you go, such a nice spring day).

Seem to be going well.

I had a student from Sao Paulo who said the weather here is about the same, except for freezing in the winter. Some years we have three months of >35 and rain every day, some years no rain for the same three months. I have to worry about sun burn on the trees.

Birmingham, Alabama. I thought I had said that more than once.

We are cold a couple of weeks in the year, chilly a month or two, pleasant a month or so in Fall and Spring, and host as blazes the rest of the year, with months of rain every day and months of drought. Thirty years ago we used to run the air conditioner mid May to September, and now late March to late October, just in case you need evidence that the climate is warming. In November it was 85F/30C and two days later 27F/-1C. Crazy weather.

I had a huge tree shading the bonsais and cut it down a a year and a half ago. Last summer they got a lot of sun.

And here goes a new update!
Mid fall, leaves are falling fast, flowers and bracts are back, in a few weeks there will be only branches and flowers.
