This is another zelkova the landlord wanted rid of, from the other side of the shed. It has too much potential as well. at least it has more feeder roots than the other one. The trunk on this one is one inch across. It will get a ground layer as well if it lives.

I love finding trees like this that people want to get rid of. I have gotten a few like this. Good potential..and free.

You can make something nice out that. It has some potential, and many branches to choose from, but first, let it recover! :)

Always got to let it recover. It seems that these trees recover quite well when I pot them, the small ones anyway. I am keeping an eye on this one.

I had to cut this one back quite a bit. After I dug it up we had a 40f degree drop in temp and it wasn't looking too good. I trimmed it yesterday so I will give it a close look when I water this morning.

It's growing so that is a good sign. I had to hold the branch because the wind was blowing so hard.

A 40f drop in temp is a lot! I know we've been getting big temperature swings here in western new York and from what ive read your climate is even more severe. Here, i keep having to move my trees inside and then outside, then inside again. I keep them inside and they get bugs and mold. I move them outside and they wilt from the frost! The new growth on your tree is a good sign :D. And thank you for the pictures. Keep up the good work!

We are lucky out here in that it is a dry climate. We don't get many mornings with frost, the air is too dry. I'm from illinois so I feel for you with moving plants in and out. I used to hate covering everything in the gardens and then uncovering it.
