So, my little Elm is going to be repotted, mostly because I really hate this pot it was originally.
It was suggested to rotate it when repotting, and I would love to hear your opinions about the new position.

ORIGINAL (how it is today):

UP STRAIGHT (in new pot - Dramatic?)

SEMI-CASCADE (Han Kengai - My favorite)

What do you guys think it's best?

This is the design (Han-Kengai) I like best. However, the new pot in which you are going to place the tree... I don´t specially like it either. Agree... The first one is not very fortunate, but the second it doesn´t feel right either... At least not in my eyes.

Well, it's not going to be repotted until spring here, September, so if you have any suggestions of a more suitable pot, I'm all ears! :)

I agree with Alain regarding the new pot. The amount of movement in the exposed roots and trunk of the Elm feel rather feminine to me, whereas the white/blue hexagonal pot is more masculine with it's hard corners and block-ish feet. You might consider a round, oval or lotus shaped pot or something with more "decorative" feet.

I too prefer the semi-cascade planting option.

I would rotate it even more and go for full cascade even if the trunk needed a bit of violence :)
Nice potential good luck with it.

Yes, you are completely right. It has to be a feminine pot, it's true.

hahaha, that's Mimo "chop chop" talking!
I really don't want to snap the trunk leaving me with a bunch of dying roots!
But...
I'll get my courage together and will think seriously about doing it.
I'll let you know. :-)
