Pyracantha (firethorn bush) air layering - Any tips? was created by Clicio

Even knowing there are good threads about Firethorns here at the Forum, like THIS ONE , I need some advice.
Knowing they are brittle and difficult to bend after wood has hardened, and having this straight section of the main trunk bothering me a lot (besides the ugly pot, of course), I thought about air layering it at the red marks, as they root easily, and finishing with two little better trees, hopefully.
Please if anyone is experienced with Pyracanthas, I am listening.
BTW, it's a bright orange firethorn, very beautiful after summer.

Not sure I agree that the section is an issue.

Have you looked at rotating the tree to the right?

Yes, I have.
There is a poker branch that will be straight to the front, the lower right one...

I like the tree as it is and would try to develop the trunk - if possible planting it in the ground.
If not, it would still be a nice little shohin after building the branch structure and ramification.
I think that air layering would spoil the good material in this case.

Thanks Leatherback and Mimo for your considerations.
Mimo, at the moment there is no way to put it in the ground, unfortunately.
It needs trunk thickening, and the process is slower in a pot.
leatherback, I can train the forward branch back and down, and rotate the tree to the right as you suggested, it may help.
So no airlayers this time, let's see.

I mean, rotate the tip of the truk to the right, so in a vertical plane. Not around the trunk centre, you understood that right? Sotilting the tree a little.

Ah, I see.
No, I thought you meant rotate around the trunk. I didn't think about the tilting (yet), but I will surely consider it (and yes, I will wire that branch away from the front anyway).
Thanks.

Rotated to the right.
LB is right, it feels more "treelike".
What do you guys think?
