This weekend I spent a bit of time trimming, wiring and writing (Yeah, new articles online yesterday, and over the next 2 weeks, on winter care).
In any case, tooksome pictures of some of my smallest and youngest projects. Just thought I would share.

I am really envious of your seedlings!
SPECIALLY the Zelkova...

Sorry. I was told I was not supposed to take it with me to give it to someone somewhere earlier this year..
Now I have made it my job to turn it into a bonsai myself. And nope. Not a broom.

If you make it into a literatti OR windswept, I'll shoot it down.

Are you planning on letting the trunk grow a lot bigger or are you keeping them small? Just asking because you seem to be pruning your seedlings pretty hard. I have a bunch of 1 year old maples myself and am not sure what to do with them :)

I have a bunch in the ground, which I trim every other year or so, and whch I lift to work the roots every 2-3 years, as I told you on that other thread.

These I am building in small pots from the start. I aim at 50+cm tall trees with fitting trunks. But over a LOT longer time than the 5 years you would need normally. I have seen some good examples of trees grow from seed over decades.

This is a slow process but can ptentially give you the best trees.

Just to keep this updated, and showing that yes, you can grow from seed and yes, it can be done in a pot and yes, it takes time!

Little update from the exposed root malus, the zelkova and the other malus. The other seedlings have moved on to other owners and/or my growing field..
