Hello guys. I'm a new guy here, i purchased a Zelkova tree 2 months ago and I really like watching him grow. He is growing pretty fast and I'm very happy about it. I watched a lot of youtube videos about bonsai and I'm trying to learn more about them. I want to buy another one in the range of 50 USD. Any suggestions?
And any tips and tricks for taking care of my Zelkova? Thank you :)

Care guidelines for your Chinese elm / Ulmus Parvifolia are in the Tree species section, top of the page.

Welcome to the empire.
for your next purchase get something from a bonsai store where they know what they are selling. buying a zelkova to add to your ulmus is a nice idea. else a juniper for added variation.

you are keeping this outside, right?

Don't do that. Don't move trees every day. They don't like that.

Trees belong outdoors.

Hi Sachayrn, I have got exactly the same Bonsai as you, and I have read your posts, and I have the same problems as you regarding the light. I am in England and live in a flat on the 2nd floor with no garden in our estate, if we had a private garden then it would have been ideal to place my bonsai outside, but unfortunately an access to a garden is impossible. So my only option is to keep it in my room that is well lit during the day and there is a cool breeze blowing circulating in my room 24hrs a day by having my small window open. The climate here in England is different than where the Bonsai originated from, cause We hardly have any warm days, most days its cloudy, windy and rain.

You need to remember that the Chinese Elm is hardy and can withstand -12C., therefore it needs cold in the winter not having that cold means that in time it will weaken and eventually die. The light levels in a house are much lower than even on a dull day, which does not help. Our eyes can acclimatise to low light plants can't. I don't know what part of England you are in but we have had wall to wall sun and no rain for the last two months apart from one day, it is sunny and warm here today again and has been for weeks.
