My first bonsai was a Zelkova, which I got as a teenager, and kept alive indoors for 10 years, until I finally moved to an apartment with a balcony, where it died... During those 10 years, I killed 3 or 4 tropical trees indoors (don't remember the species, but I got tropical trees because I read in some bonsai books they can survive indoors), probably because the air in Finland was too dry, I had wrong type of soil, wrong watering, or something?

I did live in Sao Paulo for some time, but couldn't really do bonsai there, as I never intended to stay there permanently... Hence, I have zero experience on tropical bonsai in the tropics, but some experience on killing tropical bonsai indoors in Northern Europe ;)

I'd love to do tropical bonsai in the tropics, and actually did consider moving back to Brazil, but then there were some political developments... But this forum is not for discussing politics, so lets leave this at that ;)
