Hello!

I have a Rhododendron Indicum Kaho (pre)bonsai. I know that its flowers have white , pink and these two combination colour but I'd like to know how I can lead or influence colour of the flowers. Or it is completely random? And If i have maybe pink flower on a given branch, than next year on the same branch the flower wil be pink again or it can be different?

there is no way to change the color of the flowers year to year or at all for that matter except to have the seed genetically modified to the desired color. but year to year there is no way to do this.

Lovely the way these change colors, isnt it!

Unfortunately you cannot change it yourself. The flower color changes typically from white to striped to fully red. Once the branch has red flowers, they stay red, as far as I know. So you can influence the pattern by pruning away excess red branches. To hrlp you should mark the colored branches to be removed at flowering, afterwards you know which should go.

For japanese, there are all sorts of guides on what balance between the different colours is desirable. I do not know them.

Not completely true. The color can change by mutations and by age of the plant. Indeed you cannot change it yourself (unless by grafting).

Hm.. i am noy convinced this is mutation that drives the color change. Feels phenotypic changes due to age and or location. As such, i am not sure whether grafting would work.
