Hi Everyone,
I have just bought my first Bonsai tree. It's a golden gate ficus from the online company Brussel's Bonsai. I am *brand new* to bonsai trees, and so I just wanted to get some of your opinions on how to proceed with growing a healthy, long-living tree (at least as much as possible, considering I bought it online and had it shipped to me). I've had the little tree now for about two weeks.

I have the tree placed in an east-facing window, which I keep open and unobstructed by blinds. The pot sits in a little drip tray with pebbles that I also bought. I have not repotted the tree, and it looks like it came with fertilizer pellets in the soil already, so I have not added any as of yet. I apply water basically every two or three days (after checking the soil), and apply mist to the leaves each day that I dont water. I typically do not run the AC in my house, but instead open windows and run ceiling fans (its an old house in Georgia, with high ceilings and many windows).

Recently, some little black spots have been appearing on some of the leaves of the tree. They are not large spots, and they do not take over the entire leaf, they just appear at the tips of the leaves or as little spots in the middle. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing the little spots? I have read that it could be a fungal infection, adema, or bugs (I dont think its bugs though).

I hope to hear back from some of you. Thanks in advance for any help, and any suggestions on how I can better care for my new tree!

I'd ask the seller.

Ask the seller about what specifically?
Thank you for your reply!

I am confused. Did you not have a question about your plant?

I actually went ahead and copy-pasted my first post into an email to the company, and await a response.
Auk, do you have a golden gate ficus? If so, any issues with your leaves?

Sorry, but no. For some reason I don't like ficus (and I exclusively do plants that are suitable for outdoors in our climate)

Understood. No worries; I bought this one because it's supposed to be good for beginners like myself. I figure I'll get an outdoor plant if I can keep this one alive for long enough.

Anyhow, thank you for your input! Cheers!
