Hello all;

I've got some moss I've been growing in trays to decorate some bonsai when needed.
Along with the collected moss, I've been noticing very small plants (they have roots) in pre-bonsai soil and in nature, so I've decided to keep some, as they don't seem to make any harm to the pre-bonsai plants. They are the ones on the left side of the attached picture.
Question is, do they "take energy from the bonsai" as the myth goes?

No, they do not take enrgy. They are not parasites. They do however use water & fertilizer, and give shelter to all sorts of insects..

I remove such plants, I only want moss in my pots (and trees :) )
There are small weeds in my pots - klaverzuring in dutch. They seedpods shoot the seeds in all directions and it spreads rapidly. It forms lots of roots. I am regularly checking my pots and pulling them out.

They are small and look nice, so yeah, I guess I could. However, they would spread to other pots if I would let them grow. The seedpods sort off explode, shooting the seeds in all directions.

I guess I could remove the flowers before they make these pods...

That's what I thought, but Auk is right, don't let them spread. If one keeps them in check, I guess they could be used.
