As Oscar so nicely hinted that we are not supposed to discuss our collections in his thread on shop reviews I have opened one in which everyone can share their collection. With the rain pooring down, I am not going to do a tally of the your trees in my treebed. But as a general indication:

2 Ficus Elastica, 6yrs old [Cuttings taken last spring], Training pots
1 Ficus Benjamina, Trunc-merge test, setup few months ago R.I.P. after a fungus gnat infection got them
1 Solanum Pseudocapsium, Cuttings taken from drowned tree, 2 months? ago
4 Ficus abutilifolia, Root-over rock plantings, seedlings 3-4 yrs old, training pot
4 Acer Palmatum [3 3yr old, 1 10 yr old], 1 root-over-rocht training, 2 full ground. 10yr old conversion into fukinagashi style, since 2 months.
1 Laceleaf Acer, ? 8 cm trunk, in need of styling (currently old toss-away garden plant)
5 Acer Pseudoplatanus,3-8yr olds, full ground
1 *large* taxus Baccata, 70l container. Pre-styling.
1 small Taxus Baccata (fukinagashi style), bonsai pot
5 fine-leaved conifers, not sure of the name, yellow-ish, full-ground, 1 pre-shaped
1 Juniperus (3 yr old, cascade), training pot
1 plum, root-sprout sept. 2011, full ground
3 ginco Biloba from seed, 2 yrs old, full ground
2 large Fagus Sylvatica, From hedge planting, 3 inch nebari (Dug out 2 weeks ago), full ground for winter. Needs severe work (currently 1.5m tall)
1 Carpinus Betulus, 3 yrs, full ground
Bunch of hardwoord [winter] cuttings
1 Magnolia Spp branch prepared for air-layering in Spring (3 inch base)
1 tray of Juniperus Chinensis seeds - Sown in Oktober
8-15 Larch, 2-5 yrs, full ground
25-35 Linden, 1-4 yrs old, full ground. First 3 ready to move to bonsai pot as Shohin or mame in 2012

On Order:
Zelkova Serrata Seeds
Ulmus Parviflora Seeds
Larix Laricina Seeds

In 2 years time I will reduce this collection to the specimens that show potential. My fylosophy: If you have the space to place plants in full ground: start with a wide range of young plants, let them grow for a bit and decide which trees are good, and which to get rid of. Of all species where I have more than 2 plants, I intend to get rid of all but two or three. Time investment: Maybe 3 hours a week on average.

How about you guys?

Hey kids,
This is a list of my trees.
1 privet,
1 Eastern red bud
1 White pine
1 Norway spruce
1 Boxwood
1 sourwood
1 manatoba maple
1 common lilac
1 limelight hydrangea
1 stag horn sumac
2 beech
1 schefflera
2 hydrangea cuttings
7 weeping willow cuttings.
1 tree that I have yet to identify.
I know I'm forgetting a few. It's cold here and I'm in my pajamas and don't want to go out right now and see what I've forgotten.
The only styled bonsai I own are my white pine and schefflera. The others are works on progress.
I also will be getting rid of a few trees this spring to make room for trees with more potential.

:( Wow ... lol

Suppose it will take me a while to get that many trees. But I will have fun trying. So far, only 2 of my seeds have sprouted. Hoping for more by the end of the week.

Haha. Just wait. You don't know it's happening until it's too late. Before you know it you'll have 15 or 20 trees and you're on the show "intervention". :)

My collection:

1 juniperus chinensis (shimpaku)
1 juniperus procumbens nana
1 group containing 5 willows
1 chameacyparis obtusa spp. (cypress)
1 trident maple seedling
2 boxwood experiments

I've not many room outside, so I have to do it with this amount, but now I can care all of them for more than 200% :)

Hi all - everything I have is from wild collection...

3 Trident Maples (@ 1 yr old)
10+ Junipers (different varieties and styling)
5 or 6 Eastern Red Cedar (between 2-5+ yrs old)
Several Ficus
8 Loquat (Japanese Medlar) seedlings (bonsai experiment - never heard of any discussion on these)
few azaleas
Sugar Maple (2 yrs old)
lots and lots of Corkscrew Willow (awesome plants - I sell them as well - will post pics soon)
Mystery Conifer (seriously, it has the bark and trunk of a maple, the juvenile foliage of a juniper, and sprouts lime green and turns a beautiful golden color - no idea what it is)
2 Jade Trees

Wow, now I am really envious of how much are in your collection. I only have 4 sprouted seeds and I am also excited to see how much more will sprout by the end of the week or the next one as well.

Now I am really excited to make mine bloom and I am hoping it will all turn for the best.
