Hey guys :) . My bonsai club had an Easter show at Kirstenbosch botanical gardens and a group of 4 of us decided to do a live group planting of acacias. It went really well and was really fun.

We used four slate tiles so that the planting can be easily carried and the display changed around. We chiseled at each tile to give them a natural appearance.

Here are the pictures of the end result. The trees still need to be wired and trimmed but we didn't have time for that. :cheer:

what type of accasia are those? Is it the spiny one or the tropical type?

Looks very nice. I like the idea of a rearanangable forest in an instant. What kind of tile did you use.

very nice i have always admired forest plantings.
by the way do you remember how many trees there are. i counted 10 and then 12... bonsai purests "rules" say forests should be planted in odd numbers so its something i have paid attention to.

Yes its 12 trees, i was wondering if someone was going to mention that. We decided in a group on the overall layout and when we realised before planting that there wasn't an odd number we decided to stick with the plan because it was looking good. If you look carefully you will notice theres only one tree planted on the one tile, we felt it made up for it.. And who says we have to follow some rules :)
