I've had this bonsai for about 2 months. It sits in the corner of a room next to a large window.

It has been shedding leaves - some dry and brown - others are green and fall off. It is also showing lots of new growth but I'm concerned I'm doing something wrong as I thought the initial shedding would have stopped by now and some of the branches are looking especially bare.

I am currently watering thoroughly every few 3-5 days but only when the soil no longer feels damp. I have not fed this plant yet as I'm unsure what to use and how often.

Any tips on watering, positioning and feeding would be very much appreciated.

Thank you

Have a look at the ficus care guidelines as far as when to fertilize. If you look at the places that are loosing leaves, you might notice that they are the branches that have been facing the wall... a tree will shed leaves, that don't get light.

Thanks very much for the advice. I had hoped there might be enough light in that location but I have moved it to a different spot with more natural light.
