I got this guy in april and he was doing great, suddenly all the old leaves fell off and now the new ones shrivel up and die. I asked the person I got it from but they don't reply to my emails so I hope it's not too late yet to save him!

It looks dry. How are you watering? Where are you keeping it? how much sun does it get? Check the species guides here to find out how you should be looking after it

Yeah I have looked at species guides and I am watering it every day, i was even concerned to be over watering it because the soil is usually damp. I live in a south facing appartment and short of putting it on the window (as I'm afraid it would get burnt) it gets a lot of sun... I was wondering if it might need repotting...

Hello,
This tree needs to be outside. By placing a Plumtree inside you will kill it slowly

Unfortunately I have no outside area to put it.
I know it's not ideal but it was given to me as a gift and the person who sold it didn't inform anyone that it needed to be outside... at this point if there is anything to do to save it, that information would be much appreciated.

at this point if you dont have an outside area to place it, i would place it on a window sill to insure it gets sun and air flow. water when soil is dry to the touch and pray it comes back. do not repot a unhappy tree it will definitely kill it thats added stress the tree doesn't need right now. as a rule of thumb any tree belongs outside it will not survive for long indoors.
