Hi everyone, im new to this site, and to bonsai so please be kind lol

I just bought a bonsai tree from my local garden centre, i think its a buxus/boxwood from the looks of it but i could be wrong, but i dont really know what to do with it, i have been reading on here and ive seen i need to feed it fertilizer every 6-8 weeks i think, i might be wrong.... Anyhow, i was just wondering which is the best stuff to get, i been looking on ebay and found these

cgi.ebay.co.uk/150g-Organic-Bonsai-Ferti...d7747#ht_3046wt_1139

and this...

cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem...WAX:IT#ht_2073wt_905

I'd rather go for the first one because it is cheaper but if the second one is the best i'll get that. Also i was wondering how to use the first one because from what i can see it looks dry, how do you use dry fertilizer???

Thanks :D

howdy Rob,

it's hard to tell what you need without knowing more on how the tree is planted.
is it in a bonsai pot with gravel soil or is it in a nursery pot and filled with dirt? Can you show pics?
typical bonsai soil does not have alot of organics in the soil so the tree must be fed with the fertalizer.the hard fert pellets are slow release and it will disolve into the soil in a few months.the liquid stuff is for a quick shot.

Hi, yeah i asked the sellers on ebay they said the same, i bought the pellets so i'll just stick some of them on the top, and its soil by the way not gravel.

Thanks for replying i appreciate it :D

Yeah, can't you post a picture of it, so we're sure it's a boxwood and we can give you advice. ;)

hi
pictures say a 1000 words people see a picture and they can work it but if no picture they need to try and see what tree you have which can sometimes be hard
i get alot of trees from nursery and straight away i repot them and add fert liquid and slow release
cheers dean

I definately agree with Dean,if it's possible, get yourself some quality bonsai soil and repot your tree. the soil at nurseries isn't always the best to support growth for a long period of time.
