I'm wondering if anyone has put a baobab tree through the bonsai process? I have several growing (they started last February) and they grow tall and thin. I've seen a lot of people let a tree grow for a long time and then chop it when the truck is the desired thickness, however, I'm wondering, is there is a way with the baobab to stunt its growth so that it actually grows into a miniature tree instead of chopping a large tree?

You could have known if anyone has tried it...

From what I read you're going to have to grow a trunk first.

Wanted to post a baobab update, it’s 4 years old now, still tall and thin. I cut the root in half two years ago and it’s done well. *slowly but surely :)

As a suggestion, maybe if you grow it in a colander or a growbox for a couple of years it will fatten faster?

Thank you for the advice. I’m actually happy with it growing slowly. I’ll post an update in another couple of years :)

I keep the baobabs outside unless it’s going to be below 56 degrees.
