I wanted to start a new project tree, so lately I gave myself a present: A lovely Acer Buergerianum. The nebari is about 25 cm, the trunk is 12 cm and he's about 55 cm in height. The trunk has no scares; every wound is closed. Unfortunately i can't show you the inside of the tree. But that will change soon, when he will drop his leaves..

Hello Marco, IMHO it is a very good specimen to start a great project!! Keep us posted on the progression…
I want to buy an Acer Buergerianum myself this winter as every year I have lots of problems with my Palmatum (which I'll care for anyway!)…
It's a young tree, with a stunning colour every springtime (see my profile picture), but every summer I really can't find any way to let it thrive in the hot Milan climate, with its leaves always scorched by the strong heat (though I keep it as much shaded at possible)…
I understood that the Buergerianum's leaves are stronger and more hardy, and therefore more suitable to my climate…

Hi Ricky, you're richt about the Palmatum. Even here in Holland I have problems with my Palmatum, the leave tips are turning brown in summer. This is because of burning sunlight, and too much wind. Palmatums are sensive..You can try to put him in a shaded place, out of the wind.

Now you guys can imagine what happens to Palmatums in summer here in Brazil...
Almost impossible to keep them happy with extended temperatures of 35C and above.

Excuses, excuses. If one can grow tropical in temperature climate..

A real challenge would be to try and grow beech where you live

After only 7 months later, the tree has made big steps in the right direction...
