Here is the other ficus I mentioned!
Just didn't want to start another topic on a early stage as this one... But wanted to share the technique I applied, and the result.

Last spring I cutted it's taproot really short, leaving 2 or 3 feeding roots only, and planted on top of a piece of ceramic tile...

I wanted to start this one from the very beggining, the Nebari.
I'm so happy it's working the way It should!

Hey ppl, I'm here to update that Ficus Organensis.

3 months after the airlayering, it gave me a nice amount of branches on the lower portion, and it rooted nicelly.

I changed the method for moss (which I hadn't by the time) and bag, and seemed to be the right choice.
A day before removing it I reduced the amount of leaves on the top, just to avoid dehydration.

Didn't feel safe doing any rootwork, so I just reduced the stump underneath a bit, couldn't even get too close to the ring.
So I might be doing that next spring, maybe before, 'cause I am worried (maybe too much =P) with that remaining bottom tip.

For now, it's sitting on the shade, and I'll give the main plant some attention.

I'm very happy with the result so far, hoping I'm on the right way, any tip will be appreciated as I'm new on that technique.

Great result. Let it reciver & settle in for a few months before you do anything. You are almost there, but not safe yet. Especially be careful bumping or twisting (e.g. wind!) the plant in relation to the pot/substrate. After 2-3 months of good growth it should all be set and you can look at next steps.

Over the next 2 weeks do get it back into the dappled sun if you are keepig it shaded as it will need some sun to get growing strong!

I tied it with solid copper cable it seems steady, but I'll keep an eye on the climate!
We have some rain predicted to next week, luckly no typhoon or hard wind, but if it got hard, I'm gonna move it (carefully) to my shed.

Here's a little update on this tree (that is actually two now )

So here's the layer, nothing was done since but watching it grow and being confused on what to do next season on it's branching...
Can't wait for september to see how the roots are distributed, as you can see on the picture, they are even poping up on the pot.

Also making me confused on what to do next season, but it looks better already for me.
Branches were wired to a better position (not growing straight up), and it's now long so it can thicken, but they'll probably be rewired.
I'm looking forward to graft some roots on that empty spot on it's base, or maybe moss around it... Maybe graft a branch or two also, idk.
I will need some good rootwork on september tho.


That's the most difficult part for me, decisions... hhahah

Hey, Just a little update on this Ficus air later, base got wider than I expected, very happy about this tree!
