Hi lads.
The story of my first blackthorn in training is here.
According to my local bonsai fellows, blackthorns over here usually have roots far away from the trunks so it is quite difficult to collect and keep alive.
Everyone they had died on them.
But I wanted one anyway and hoped that with sweating technique I might be able to put some roots on one.
Pic after the collection - nearly no fine roots on it.

After nearly 2 months in a bag

Later in the season - one of the main branches died

after 1st pruning in late autumn

today before and after pruning - I go for clip and grow technique and want to have this in weeping form

to be continued this autumn ...

Looks so healthy! And the taper on the trunk is not bad also...

Hello there!

Nice find!

Don't you think you could have let it grow more, to get some thicker branches in the proper places then cut them back to get some taper in the branches as well?

That´s the plan :) But I also want some ramification closer to the trunk so I need the branches to split into 2 before they are 30cm far from the trunk :)

Oh and by the way... The black plastic bag you were referring to in one of your previous posts how did you use it?

I´m asking this because around here, for some trees that are collected with long pivoting roots and almost no feeders (like some olive or pear trees for instance) a black plastic bag is placed upon them after trimming those long roots and having the tree potted, of course. Then the bag is only removed after these trees start backbudding again.
