In principle rain is no problem. If you have species which are particularly drought-loving perhaps after continued rain for a number of dais, you should consider providing shelter. But rain is very naturaly for plants to receive. Just make sure you have well-drained soil andpots

Hi linda, ...it's nice to meet you. :)

I agree with points made by both *leatherback* and *manofthetrees*. Doing a little research into the various climates your individual trees are native to might be beneficial. If however, you have one that is native to arid, desert-like conditions where it seldom rains I personally would let it have a day's soaking of rain (providing it hasn't been watered for a while) then place it in a sheltered space. Otherwise, for those that are native to variable weather conditions with rain included, sure... why not leave them out. ;)

I think you should research your particular trees and what conditions they will be comfortable in. For example an Acacia(thorny, desert type tree) requires less water than for example a Ficus tree. Trees also require certain drainage conditions. As long as your trees have quite adequate drainage they should be fine. Remember that if it rains alot it can benefit many trees that have good drainage but trees that dont will suffer because the oxygen in the sand is not being replaced by new oxygen when fresh water runs through it
