It took about 3 months, roots developed only on one side.
We´ll see if it makes it.

Stones are quite a favourite of yours, aren't they? I don't understand the airlayering part as the plant appears to have been lifted from the ground. Could you please elaborate on the process? (Not the technique)

By the way, wicked ass profile picture. Is that you on the pic?

I love stones in combination with trees, especially trees on rocks, looks more natural than trees in pots, although that has its magic too.
Well I wanted to make me something like this - I am sure you came across this one -

www.bonsai4me.com/AdvTech/ATdamagedhawthorn%20page2.htm

I tried it with one yamadori birch that grows in my garden now, but the process will take very long time.
And then one day I was sitting in my back garden watching father´s pear trees and notice a branch that could be more suitable, as it has quite developed braches that will serve the purpose and will make the base for further branching, appearing to be a tiny trees growing on raft.
So I air layered that branch and here it is pruned and wired to stone some 3-4 months later.

As to profile pic - yes that´s me :)
I play guitar in 2 slovakian cover bands, and occasionally I write something, record it with guest musicians and put it on my web:
mimo-kristof.webnode.sk/
It´s in slovakian language but you will find your way around if you´re interested :)

It explains a lot, thanks! This raft idea is a very cool one, just like your profile picture B)
It looks nice and promising!
I hope it turns out the way you want it to.

Your website looks awesome too. (Thank god for google translate ;) )
I like your work, and those lyrics of godless sky made me think. How very cool that you write your own songs :)

Thanks and happy playing!

My pear survived winter allright.
I carefully moved it onto a stone slab where it has much more substrate for root growth.
I think I have my own raft bonsai inspired by Harry´s masterpiece quite soon :)

Looks like there´s gonna be a lot of flowers shortly this year :P
Maybe I will leave it bear a fruit too and then prune it to make it lower.
