Ok, so I'm new to this and would like help. Got 2 bonsai trees in the living room but the problem is, we're heavy smokers, both me and my husband. Is this going to be a problem? If so, what can I use? Some suggested air purifiers, others suggested to just air it out as much as I can, and so on. Any help is more than welcome, TIA.

Depending on what the species are they probably should be outside. It is impossible to say more

Yeah, smoking is an important predictor of lung cancer. I would call that a problem. Best would be to stop smoking.

Sounds like a research project. There should be some answers on line somewhere. My gut feel is that smoke collects on surfaces like glass, and leaves can be sort of sticky and collect dust easily, so I would think smoke particles would stick. It is hard to clean smoke off of windows, and I would guess it would hard to clean off of leaves.
Notice how often I said feel, guess, etc. Like I said, a research project.

I honestly never did research related to this topic, but indeed, smoking in the house where you have orchids and other species of plants does affect their health, so who's to say the same doesn't go for bonsai trees. I think that no matter the life form in question, tobacco smoke has, to a degree, a damaging effect. Quitting would be the best option, but I was a smoker too and I know how hard it is to give up the habit, so I'm not gonna lecture you on that. But what I do know is that air purifiers prove quite effective in eliminating the particles from the air and the related odors, so you could use one in the room you smoke in. You can also add some plants that, through their nature target tobacco as these might prove some extra help, which is needed in your case if you say you are both heavy smokers.

My point was that depending on the species they might need to be outside anyway. Air conditioning makes the habitat even worse for plants

Some trees survive well in polluted cities so the question to answer your questions is ..... what sort of bonsai do you have?
