Tropical Bonsai trees was created by elianah888

I'm new to Bonsai and I live in the Caribbean. I want to begin with one or all of these trees: Barbados Cherry (Acerola), Mango, Orange and Lemon. I can't find any video or reference that talks about the tropical trees and how to begin a Bonsai tree with them. Can you help me, please? Have no idea of the beginning age, thickness of the trunk, any special treatment, etc. Any help will be highly appreciated.

What search engine are you using? I googled "Acerola Bonsai" and found websites, movies, images and even an "Barbados Cherry Bonsai Care Guide"...

Elianah, welcome to the Forum.
I live in Brazil, and I am training an Acerola Bonsai. It likes to be outside, doesn't like cold drafts, plenty of water, let the trunk get thick before hard pruning any branches. The trunk doesn't get very thick (not even close to old pines or junipers), but it's a nice tree to train as bonsai and the fruits are beautiful.
Good luck!

Ciclio, first, I love your last quote. That makes me feel better. Now, I have an Acerola tree in my garden already and I live in the Caribbean so I know a little bit about this tree. But, on the other hand, I am completely new to Bonsai and I have no idea of how or when to begin with the tree or the order of things to be done with it. I have watched 100's of hours of videos but, of course, every teacher has their own ways. I guess, this will be a touch and go experience. Would you mind if I ask you for help (SOS) if I get stock? Thank you for your reply!!!

If it is a young plant, put it in the ground for a year or two.
After letting it grow thicker, wait for the beginning of the Spring and put it in a training pot (larger than a bonsai pot, can be shallow but big).
Use a good draining soil, a mix of inorganic and organic (in a much lesser percentage.)
Prune it hard if needed to let only the essential branches and trunk on the tree, and wire it to give it shape. Don't fertilize for some weeks.
Water when the soil fells dry, sometimes in the summer twice a day.
Trim as needed during the growing season, fertilize every two weeks, and wait.
Let us know about your progress!

I'm confused.
You wrote: "I can't find any video or reference that talks about the tropical tree"
But you also write:
"I have watched 100's of hours of videos" ?

Teaching videos about Bonsai as it is but, only a VERY few for tropical trees. I live in the Caribbean and I want to plant "tropical fruits Bonsai Trees". But, to be honest to the truth, I know about planting trees (a little bit -enough to have some myself) but, nothing about bonsai planting. I wanted references about the tropical fruit trees and bonsai and there are almost none out there or I haven't founded yet.
