Good afternoon. I am so happy that I find you. I love bonsai ...I have two, I don't know what kind ( I had them as a gift and the label was removed). During the summer I kept them outside,I live in Malta, they were full of leaves and the big one had even flowers, but as soon the rainy weather came they start loosing their leaves. I brought them inside, but still they were loosing their leaves. On the big one I discover something like bugs but covered in a white cocoon. I removed them all...now I saw that my bonsai have small growing leaves , but unfortunately they look like this. Do you think there is still hope ? Thank you very much for your help. Btw can you tel me what they are ?

Yeah... true, we've practiced answering the same questions hundreds of times. But sorry, today I don't feel like repeating myself.

Let me change my mind.

One of 'm is a Carmona.
The other one is a chinese elm.

One of them is hard to care for, the other one belongs outdoors.

And that while you are so much more patient and civilized than I am.
That must mean something. I dare say this forum is being ruined by people that are really not looking for information about bonsai.

I think you are being rude, arrogant, elitist etc to say that :)

I belong to some Adobe forums, like Lightroom and Photoshop. Over there, they keep "experts" or "gurus" (as they are called) answering repetitive, boring questions; some of them are Adobe employees, others I guess get indirectly paid (software for free, discounts, etc), but they keeps the forums alive.
On the other hand, other very busy bonsai forums are kept alive only by enthusiastic, unpaid members; a few driven by their big egos and will to show off, but many others really willing to teach and help. And it works.
What puzzles me after some years here, is the fact we have experienced people willing to help like Auk, LB, Geoff or Mimo, but... New members don't stay. Either they get a fast answer and disappear, or most have no interest at all in bonsai.
What are we doing wrong? Why is this forum shrinking instead of growing (as is clear that interest in bonsai is growing worldwide)?
As I said, it's a puzzle.
I have no answer to that.
