Thank you for your reply. I was wondering; The person who have me one also gave one to his mother and hers has been living in her bathroom with new growth. It is sitting in a window with filtered light. Also It is much smaller. How is hers doing so well inside? I've read and also by your suggestion that junipers should be outside so i was so confused at what i should do when i had it. She was three reason why i kept mine inside so long. Hers is below
Although Junipers are quite hardy and resistant to a lot of mall-treatment, they are very vulnerable to their roots, and especially wet roots. In dense saturated wet soil you can kill a juniper in a very short time. Unfortunately, often they do not show that they have problems untill past the point that they started dying. My best guess is that your friend has a green thumb, and intuitively knows how to water properly.
As for hers still being alive.. I would venture a guess and think it will not be doing so great again after winter. It is now in a dark location, without direct sunlight. The air is moist in a bathroom without heating. So the air is fine, but the tree is not building up sugars for winter. When in winter the heating goes on, and the plant is still in the dark it will decline faster. In spring it might not have enough left to start again. That being said.. I have seen people keep junipers alive for several years indoors. But those are the exceptions.
