As you know, I'm new to this hobby. I went and purchased a money tree and a Chinese elm. I noticed that when watering my money tree, its trunk becomes orange. I don't know why. I also noticed that on my Chinese elm, the leaves have yellow spots. On my Chinese elm cutting, the leaves have black spots on them, and I'm starting to doubt that it's black spot fungus. Please see the pics attached below.

I can see the picture. Cannot see any urgent problem with the chinese elm. Money trees I have no experience with.

The elm is placed outdoors?

No, not outdoors. I am just letting it recover from shipping and then I will keep it outdoors.

Letting it recover by placing it in an environment that is lethal to a tree…. Care to explain that ?

Yes. I can explain.

Firstly, I didn't know that keeping them indoors kills them.
I have read hundreds of guides saying that the Chinese elm can be placed both indoors and outdoors. I am confused now.

And second, I live in a place where it reaches SCALDING hot temps.
By that, I mean 125º F (51º C) and it's also extremely dry here.
Some days the humidity outside is around 9%!


I have no clue whether to keep it outside or inside!

Oh, and also, I keep it near a bright window which gets a lot of light.
Don't know if it's enough, though.

Yes, they can be placed indoors. But they just hate living room conditions and will slowly die. If you have a room that goes down to below 10 degrees in winter it will survive in there. The bonsai industry have totally different idea than most people what indoor means.
