Identify please was created by Amanda2215

I got this as a gift and it came with basic care instructions for multiple types of bonsai trees but it doesn't tell me what kind of tree this one is.

The leaves are sharp and pointy. I've looked at many different sites and I haven't found any that look similar enough to be comfortable identifying it.

It also came with this bad of nutrients that have no name on it. They said to sprinkle a little on every 6 months. But they look just like small rocks really. Any help would me much appreciated.

I tried to put pictures but it doesn't seem to be working. The leaves are very small pointed and green. It's a decently small tree . If anyone was willing to email me I can send pictures through there. I want the right identification so I can take care of it the right way.

Surprising that you could not identify it. In this holiday season, many people get this as a present. The same questions about the same plant are asked two or three times per day on this forum, at the moment.

While this is sold as bonsai, it really is not; it's a young juniper that should not be in a bonsai pot.
You can follow the general care guidelines for junipers:

Hello Amanda,
What you have is a new pet. It's common name is Japanese garden juniper (Procumbens Nana) . It's commonly used in Japanese style gardens and as bonsai material. No mater where you live, it must be kept outdoors, all year round. If you have a garden area and it's not frozen over, it would best survive by being removed from its pot and planted. They like sun. If you do not have a garden that is accessible at this time then you may keep it in an unheated space, garage, storage. Best that it's off the cement floor, maybe on a shelf. It can survive the average winter without light, it my also freeze and it will be fine if it has been kept watered ( just damp) if you live in a warm zone of the US, then just put it outside in the sun & keep it watered. There are many books on bonsai, if you accept the challenge. Or....just give it to someone that has a great deal of interest and conditions it requires....quickly. I hope this was a help.

Yes, not a good idea, or no do not put it in a garage, it needs to be out in the light, cold frost rain, weather.

Many evergreen trees in nature are completely buried in snow, throughout the winter. They are frozen. And dormant. I would offer Bill Valvanis's bonsai nursery (link below), as an example of overwintered evergreens in a garage. I have had the privilege of visiting Bill's bonsai nursery several times , once in the winter, where many of his trees, deciduous as well as evergreens were being overwintered in a garage.

Yes Bonsai are cared for as pets. They require water, food and care, not unlike love .

True. Yesterday I wired my cat and cut off its tail as I thought it was too long and did not fit in the picture.
