I just ordered and received a larch but it looks like a podocarpus? Are the marks on the trunk a sign of rot ?? Should I send it back ??

So i believe you :)

Time will do things, but can I help it? Lightly sand the trunk or putty?

Pseudolarix was my first thought, difficult to tell the length of the needles.

I have ordered a few trees from vendors like this. Never again.

They have two kinds of trees, those which people walking into the store will buy and those they won't buy. Which kind do they send to people not walking in?

Thanks for this developed and hilarious thinking. Would you be the man I've been waiting for? Don't worry, I have less scabs but more holes. :D

Yes so Now it's too late I should have sent him back so that they understand not to send me or others their rookie mistakes (because they considers themselves professional ..) THANKS i never think that could exist..

Thanks for the larch info. Is rainwater on the trunk risky?

I am not sure why the anger. You got exactly what you ordered. A young larch. Yes, it has some marks from wire. This is normal. A plant needs to grow girth for the plant to set in its new shape, and this leaves marks. In commercial setting it is not worth wiring 2-3 times so they leave the wire on longer.

Your plant is completely ok with dealing with the outside weather so don't worry about rain.
