Collected Scots Pine was created by LRC1979

I brought this Scots Pine this morning at the Birmingham Bonsai car boot. I got it for a great price and was wondering what u guys thought i could do with it ?. Its very health at the moment and prob give it another year in the bowl its in as it was collected a year last Dec. Let me know what uthink as im really interested to hear ideas.

its a perfect trunk for literati style with alot of lower jins. anything else i see would involve some some serious bending techniques

This tree looks similar. Perhaps you can get inspiration from it.

Hm.. It could be just me, but this tree is also still very much away from a styled bonsai. looks a lot like the rough material pine Mike Jones just sold this weekend:

It just needs pads development and to bring the foliage closer to the trunk...needs some trimming too but the basic idea is there.

Wow. That's a nice pine you bought. I wish I could come across gems like that. I also agree with all the other replies. A snip here and a bend there and PRESTO, your on your way to creating a beautiful bonsai.

Just clearing off some wooly aphids and will be starting basic styling in about a week :cheer:
