How does one re-pot a Trident Maple Forest Grove, without the trees coming apart at the root. Sure could use some help. Thanks

the roots should be intertwined together as if it were one tree if the forest has been in the pot for two years or so.

Or, as Bob says: no idea. We have no information about your forest and don't know anything about its roots.

It's been over two years. It is root bound Do I have to rake all the soil off or leave some? I attached a pic. Hope it goes through.

Same, the only thing i can think of is to see how it goes and just go for it, not advise i know but that is what i would do-but hey, you might be able to reassemble it in a better way? Just a thought. Good luck. Sorry, i could not be much use

Just to make sure: This is not a recent puicture, but of a year old, right?

If it is recent; You are too late to repot. And it is sitting in the wrong spot (It should still be dormant).

As for repotting.. You have to be carefull removing the old soil. If this has been in this composition for 2 years, it has not grown enough for the roots to merge properly. You can lift it from the pot, and carefully remove some of the soil.

Or.. If you dare.. You could do as bob suggests.. Take the whole thing apart and re-create the forest. Currently it is a little .. contived. Have a look online for bonsai grove and study the best groups you come across. A variation of sizes, clumping trees in little sub-clumps will make this a much more atttractive composition.

So when is it a good time to repot? I am in Central Texas, so maybe not a good time to repot. Should I repot when the leaves have fallen. Had to bring the plant in because of severe weather, icy, windy and below 25 degrees. I have it under grow lights until the weather improves. I think that I will wait until I hear when it is a good time to repot. I appreciate any advise, thanks!!!!
