Hi, I have an Azalea bonsai in training which was infected with mites after just after experiencing a scorching hot summer (I live in Port Macquarie NSW). My query is that the tree still has an abundance of leaves should it not have moulted by now to make way for a new flush of growth??

That really depends. Azalea's are mostly an evergreen but some can be deciduous.
