If the tree is doing OK, I would just leave there until next year. Don't re-pot unless it is a real emergency. Also, next year if you go to a bigger pot, don't go too big. Just untangle the roots and repot on a bigger pot that will leave space for growth of the roots freely without being restrictive. But you also don't want to give too much space.

If the tree is indoors, that's not good, it should be outdoors or it won't make it.

There are some yellowing leaves on it closer to the trunk. I don't know if that is an emergency or not. Why not do too big of a pot? Does it pool water and cause root rot?

You should post a picture of the plant. Have you checked the root ball?. Having the tree on a container that's too big wouldn't be optimal, as the soil might stay too wet, even with good drainage. It is risky and unnecessary, as your tree won't fill the pot in years anyway before you have to check the root-ball. Yellowing of some leaves close to the trunk could mean anything, from not enough light getting there, to bad care. If you re-pot this time of the year, you could en up killing the plant, and it might not need to be re-potted.

Regarding the size of the pot, this is a link to an article by Brent Watson that explains why over-potting (using a pot that is too big) will slow down the growth of the tree. He has some other excellent articles on the site as well about using the natural cycles of the trees to the best advantage for developing your bonsai.
