Hello Everyone!
I began growing this Pinus Aristata (Rocky Mountain Bristlecone Pine) about four months ago. Recently the top and bottom parts of the stem have been turning a brown/yellow color and appear to be slightly wilted. The top of the seedling looks very healthy so I haven't been too concerned, but the problem isn't going away and I'm starting to worry that it will affect the rest of the tree. Its been a freezing winter so far and my plants light source has only been able to be partially the sun and partially an indoor light plant. I water once a day, sometimes every other day depending on how the soil feels to the touch. Any suggestions on what the problem may be/ how to fix it? Let me know!

The problem may be that it is indoors. This is a pine. It belongs outside.

also... 4 months ago? September? That's not the right season.

I got a kit for growing bonsai's as a gift a few months ago and unfortunately planted them all in the pots it came with before I realized that they need to be done at a very specific time. I can leave them in the space in between the screen of the window and the glass so they get air from the outdoors, but wouldn't the cold this time of year kill it?

I consider that a false advertising. There is no such thing. You got a kit that contains seeds to grow trees. Bonsai will not grow from it all by itself. It requires at least some horticultural knowledge, lots of study, training and technique - and patience. Growing a pre-bonsai pine can take some 15 years - for a small, not so interesting one. Real good bonsai pines will take longer than that.

You cannot put it outside now. I guess you should let it grow stronger for a while (if it still wants to grow), then move it to the fridge once it is strong enough, until spring. Not sure myself, never done it this way.
