Hi, I have a new Sequoia, bought last weekend from the garden centre. I put it outside in a fairly sheltered shaded spot, not too much sun but the leaves are not happy. they still have the same ones in the garden centre and they all look really happy.
Its only been outside for a week but i've moved indoors as im worried im killing it. I know these are meant to live outside and are fairly hardy but not sure what im doing wrong.

Looks like sunburn. Just like people, plants burn if exposed to lots of sun of they have not been in fullnsun before. Put it in a spot where it only gets early morning or late afternoon sun for a bit. Later it can be in full sun

Keeping it indoors will kill it.

its been in a really sheltered spot. so I should basically leave it outside and it should bounce back once it gets used to being outside?

my logic was to keep it inside until the weather gets a bit nicer and move it out into the shade. I know long term it needs to be outside.

I just hate to see it struggling so much. shall i go with 100% shade while it gets used to being outside?

What is the reasoning for putting it indoors though? which plant is hapier in a dark dry place then outside wher ther is light (energy) and moisture?

the reason was to try and protect it a bit as its come from a shop where its been inside and suddenly outside where it seems to be struggling. the ones still in the shop are nice and green.

I'll put it back outside in a place that gets a little bit of morning sun and leave it to recover.

How are your watering habits, could you be overwatering perhaps. I noticed some banding (green to discolored back to green again) within the same leaf which could indicate a fungal infection, I would find the appropiate antifungal and apply just to be sure.

Not sure if it is fungus or a pest. The it was fine until it's been outside so I think it was the position.

I'm worried watching the leaves die and hoping it springs back

Do I remove the but t leaves or just leave the tree alone to recover?

Just leave it alone.

As Clicio (?) recently correctly posted, more trees die due to overhandling and too much TLC than due to neglect. Plants like to be left alone, as long as they get the water/fertilizer and sunshine.
