Thanks for your explanation. I thought you actually had a reason based on the quality of the product for the application. But I understand it is just a personal dislike, which is fine. But please, do not go about the forum advising people not to use it if you have never tried it, or worked with plants grown in it.

I started using Tesco Low Dust lightweight cat litter last year with a little pine bark mixed in, I seldom even bother with that now, and the trees seem to love it,

see the photo of Hawthorn repotting after one year.
Harry Harrington has almost writtem a thesis on the subject on his website
I have to count the pennies and this really has been a help

Akadama, Turface and Seramis are among the most popular high quality (inorganic) soil components available in which to plant your bonsai.
These soil components are all (basically) clay granules that have been fired/heated to create small pellets or granules


Maybe relevant to know:
Turface and Seramis are fired clay. Akadama is not (it is both not fired and not clay)
