Right, what I meant too. We keep tropicals indoors only because to keep em from cold winters. Trees are born in the open, so its where they like to live.

I appreciate all the feedback. Will try and update you all on this tree in the following weeks. My main concern so far is to leave the tree alone. But, I wanted to ask, would defoliating all of the dead leaves help the tree recover or would it stress the tree even more?

I would leave the plant alone. Every time you move the tree, it puts pressure on the roots. It needs time to re establish. If very young roots are forming, you want them unhindered.

Buy a anti fungal just as a precaution.
Also dont over water the tree.
What i mean by that is that because the leaves are wilting people think the plant needs water but actually it could be a root problem and too much water will be detrimental to the health of the tree. if you constantly water the roots stay too wet and wont recover and start growing so be careful.
