My Baobab tree is a year old and a little out of control. Not sure what the best way to stop it growing is without doing damage. I trim the roots but he grows at least an inch a day still. In the last few days it has grown that whole top section. If anyone could help I would appreiciate it.

Why would you want it to stop growing? This baby needs to bulk up?!

A propos.. How certain are you of the name? This does not look like baobap to me. More like wisteria or another vine.

I don’t want it to stop growing, I love this tree I just thought I needed to keep it small to be a bonsai? It definitely is a baobab as I got the seeds online and have seen others I also have two wisterias at home and they are different. This one is still a baby so will probably look more like it’s supposed to the older it gets.

It is not a baobab. Baobab is not multi leaf.

I agree with Leatherback that it looks like wisteria, but there are other similar plants it could be.

Are you not confusing two species?
Those 3small bonsai pots, on the right, perhaps those are the baobabs?

I just did a plant identifying app and you are all right it is a wisteria. I planted soooo many trees last year and was convinced this was one of my baobabs. I’m gutted as was convinced that was what this was. So I have three wisterias the other two are just a lot smaller and later coming back with the leaves so was easy to get confused. I am glad I wrote on here now and found that out!

Any tree will develop into a mature tree if bonsai techice is not applied. There are no such thing as bonsai seeds. They need to grow in order to be able to applie bonsai technices. Grow it as much as possible and cut back here and there at the right time of the year where growth dont support your goals.
