Hi ,

I recently acquired an O. pachy and would like your input as to where I should prune this plant for the first time. Any help is greatly appreciated!!! Thanks in advance.

It is a bit hard to see what the structure of the tree is. I do not know Operculicarya Pachypus, so I have little to add; I do not know how it grows and buds.

I also don't have experience with this tree, but I do have a question.
Why did you buy the plant if you didn't know what to do with it?

This species has a fat root when older. Not really suitable for bonsai in spite of the youtube video. Comes from Madigascar so is tropical and needs frost protection. Nothing else to say.

I purchased this plant because it is unique and beautiful. Also, I didn't state that I don't know what to do with it, but simply asking for input as to where to prune this plant for the first time. Thanks for everyone that responded.

Here is my goal...not a good bonsai specimen?? I have to disagree as this specimen is amazing work of man and nature.
