As I commented in my previous post, I´m starting my adventure within the bonsai world. So, one thing that I still have not wrapped up completly is exactly which are the basic tools that I require to start this journey? Also photos would be very much appreciated. Thank you all in advance!

Some of the bonsai tool sets look tempting but I've just bought tools over the years as I needed them, initially proper small leaf/stem scissors, the 'shear' type sold as herb cutters are good too for leaf trimming and very cheap, a concave branch cutter and bonsai wire cutter are other essentials. I found it's worth keeping a really sharp garden pruner just for bonsai use along with assorted small brushes, and of course a small tool bag to keep everything together (plus an oily rag for cleaning). Mostly bought online (Amazon or Ebay) and I have just ordered 180mm long handled scissors from Amazon for about £7 which will pretty well complete my toolkit, for now...

Thank you ironhorse. Godo piece of advise. I was really considering the fact of buying tools progressively. Now, after reading your post I have no doubts anymore. Also the initial tools you mentioned clarify several questions I had.

These tools are well made and with some extra care I believe they would last for years.

i didnt really need tools at first but when you get to spring, you need as you will repot and prune.

Wel, as I said before, you do not have to buy special tools pliers and scissors and secatures are fine to start along with a chopstick

a knob cutter and wirecutters are good ones to have...most other needed tools are basically glorified scissors. good "bonsai" tools are good to have but not necessary to get started. its just the tools are designed to make there respectful job easier

Yes...that´s what I thought. I just acquired some tools to get started and haven´t spent that much of money anyways. Tried to find some tools with a reasonable quality/price ratio. Thanks manofthetrees.
