Hi everyone. I was here months ago with questions and concerns about my fukien tea bonsai. It is during very well with growth and is very healthy with shiny green leaves and flowering. I want to thicken my trunk and was wondering if splitting it would be a good idea or would it be harmful to this species? If I do split, must I wire it back together or just leave it be?
Yes basically as such. My trunk is significantly curved but the base of the trunk is still very thin. I'm not sure if my species of bonsai can handle that amount of stress though.
Should I wire the halves together or just leave them slightly apart? That is if I go through with it.
yes: two options
- plant it in the garden and forget about it for a few year ( if your climate is ok), or in a big container.
- wait 5-10 years and it will be thicker...
Thick truncs take time and/or length growth nothing can change that.
