Hello again,

I'm need some advice for my Chinese Elm.

Please look at the pictures attached. The tree was bought as a gift so I had nothing to do with its shape. It's already had a trunk cut which you will notice in the pics.

As you can see, there's a section where various branches have grown together and gives the tree an ugly look in my opinion. I'm struggling what to do next, either cut the trunk to remove the section or maybe grow out some branches and shape them with wire so it's seen in a different light. I'm not intending to do anything major just yet with it being late in the season but I want to have a plan so I know what I'm doing going forward.

Any suggestions would be most welcome.

Thanks.

Thanks for letting me know the photos hadn't uploaded. I've attached two more which fully show the tree.

It is always hard to judge a tree from a two dimensional photo.

I think I would cut the trunk in a bigger angle, similar to one of the branches. Grow that branch as a new leader and cut the other ones. Then just hope for some lower branches to form. But it is your tree.
